Did You Know - Blocking
BlockingWhile many people tend to report other deviants they don't get along with or they feel harassed by to the HelpDesk right away, your first action should always be blocking.
Whatever reason you have to report someone, by blocking you avoid any further communication with certain deviants.
This action is immediate, as you don't have to wait for any staff member to take action and you can just enjoy your dA experience without that blocked deviant.
Personal reasons like disagreeing on a topic, not liking someone or similar won't end with a ban of that other deviant.
Contacting the HelpDesk just adds to the queue of tickets unnecessaril
Hey everyone!
This week's journal is all about something that most of us do not do enough of:
Relaxation!
Some of us enjoy listening to music or exercising in order to relax, whereas others of us may meditate or take a nap. There's no right or wrong way to do it, but I hope this journal will give you some new ideas to try when you need once again to reach your center.
Get away without going anywhere
We all know the value of getting away to some secluded isle, but in reality, how many of us can do that, either because of time or money (or both)? :XD:
I challenge you to find a getaway in your own current vicinity-- sit under a spr

Permalinks
Did you know there are three direct links, or permalinks, to deviations? The first is the fav.me link, which can be found under the "Details" tab on the right side of the deviation page along with the thumb code ( :thumb#########: ) and the embed code.
Sometimes this link and the embed code are unavailable because the user has disabled sharing. Not to fret, as you may still link to the deviation inside of dA and to people who have accounts with other permalinks. If a person has disabled sharing, be considerate and don't look for ways around sharing it; creating a dA account to view with is easy and fast to make.
The second permal
Macro photography is photography magnified. It is generally recognized as “macro” when you are increasing the size of an object in your picture from about half life-size, as represented on the image sensor, to five times life-size. Here are some top tips for capturing great Macro Photography. If you have any to add please leave them in the comments below the article!
1) Lens choice...
Many lens choices have that very tempting 'Macro setting' on them which supposedly allows your camera to magically transform itself into the ability to be a complete perfect macro lens. It works sometimes! Depending on your camera. However if you

Critiques
:note: Critiques are a Premium Member feature. That means you need to have a PM to request critiques for your deviations. You can write critiques as a non Premium Member though.
Everyone who wants to encourage others to leave more in-depth feedback for artworks can make use of the critique feature.
If you want to enable critiques for a new deviation you just have to check that option, after clicking at Publishing Options at the bottom of the submission page.
But you can also enable it for already submitted deviations. All you need to do is to go to the deviations page, click Edit and proceed like above.

Self-Injury: Beyond the Scars
Hi everyone, you may or may not know me, but my name is Star or tinycasket (https://www.deviantart.com/tinycasket). When Aeirmid (https://www.deviantart.com/aeirmid) first approached me about writing this article I will admit I was excited as well as nervous. You see, it is not public knowledge, but I was someone who self-injured for nearly a decade. To be more clear, I self-injured from the ages of 12 to 20 and I am now 27 years old. Anyone who is a self-injurer knows that self-harm is not something we typically go around bragging about to others. In fact, we go to great lengths to hide "battle wounds" from the world and loved ones. Despite, my nervousn

Working through negativity from other people
The sudden attack of negativity
I will write another article about energy vampires, or the people in our lives who are constantly negative. In today's article, I am going to address the specific case where you're feeling like someone is throwing negative energy at you out of the blue.
We've all had it happen to us: We're going along through our lives, feeling happy, having a good self-esteem day, when WHAM! someone says or does something that leaves us reeling. Maybe they've criticized your art in an unwanted way, or maybe they have done something to hurt or offend you personally, as an individual.
Don't let it spiral you into negativity an
How can I tell when a model has anorexia? by mental-health, journal
How can I tell when a model has anorexia?
Answer: YOU CAN'T.
Surprised?
For starters, an eating disorder is a medically diagnosed condition. If you're not a professional, you're not qualified to make this determination. There are different subtypes, and therapies that are most effective for one may not be right for another.
But okay, that's some fancy shit, and maybe you're not trying to go that far, you're just concerned for the model's health. We've all seen the photos: models with visible ribs, little to no apparent fat on their cores (bonus points if you check for healthy musculature), etc.
So why can't you use those seemingly obvious cues to say "hey, you need to eat more"?

Since May is mental health awareness month, I wanted to take this opportunity to address something that I think plagues most, if not all of our daily lives. Anxiety is something that comes in all shapes and forms and effects everyone from school children to professional adults. While many people use medication as a way to control anxiety, it's really not something that should be relied on long-term. The purpose of this article is to introduce you all to some helpful holistic techniques that can help reduce stress on your body and mind and help to safely and naturally minimize a lot of the factors that cause us to feel anxio
